Wildman's Shop Thefts
Legendary Relic Dealer Wildman Dent Myers reported thieves stole a group of fake or reproduction Confederate plates from his store. The Confederate plates were part of a display showing how bogus plates had been doctored to appear real. Most were acquired by people who bought them on ebay and were donated so that others would would not make the same mistake. Wildman grouped them together in a locked wood case for display to the public. The thieves used a screwdriver to unscrew the back hinges to make access to the plates. The bogus plates taken were:
-
CS Oval belt buckle
-
Ohio Breastplate
-
Georgia oval belt buckle - no filling
-
Georgia belt buckle - lead filled
-
CS 2 piece tongue & wreath
-
South Carolina solid cast belt buckle with 1862 on back
-
CS oval belt buckle
-
CSA rectangle solid cast
-
CS oval egg belt buckle
A Civil War Naval plain frame buckle with leather belt was also taken which was not a reproduction. It is puzzling why the thieves took the reproduction plates unless they plan to sell to unsuspecting victims as the real thing. The Kennesaw Police Department is investigating the theft. Anyone with information, please contact Officer J.T. Irwin, 770-422-2505

| Wildman's Civil War Warehouse is a Kennesaw institution. Anyone stopping by for a visit will never forget the experience. Visitors from across the country make a point to stop by to see the Wildman. | | One can spend hours browsing in Wildman's shop. Besides Civil War relics, there are books and curiosities in every corner. | | Wildman himself standing by the front register. Note the pistol on his right hip. The thieves stole the plates while he was out and his clerk was tending the store. He would like any information on the thieves who committed this crime. | | | | |
